When designing or renovating a shower, you need to decide what type of shower you want. In addition to the more familiar shower trays with aprons, floor-level shower areas have been popular for many years – and with good reason. They remove the risk of tripping, they’re hygienic, they give you more space to move around and they look very stylish. If you’re a fan of these showers and have the necessary space, all you need to do is decide on the design. Tiles or smooth shower areas made from one piece? Both options have their advantages, and as so often, it’s the details that make the difference.
There are lots of things to consider when designing a bathroom. Something often forgotten is that conditions in the bathroom are tropical practically all year round. Showering and taking baths produces a high level of humidity, which not only steams up the mirrors, but also encourages the growth of bacteria and mold. Joints are particularly affected by this, because soap residues and dirt adhere much better to their rough and porous surfaces than to smooth surfaces. Unsurprisingly, strong cleaners are often used to clean joints. The disadvantage of this is that the surfaces become even more porous over time and may start to leak. So joint-free surfaces, such as in our showers made from glazed titanium steel, are clearly a better option.
Slip resistance is crucial for your comfort and safety in the shower, so we offer ANTIGLISS PRO anti-slip protection for our shower areas. This involves baking quartz sand onto the surface, making it completely slip-proof under running water and very easy to clean. In tiled showers, slip resistance is maximized by using tiles with rough surfaces or a large number of small mosaic tiles. Both options require jointing, however.
To ensure that the shower area looks good and remains hygienic and spotless even after many years of use, damage to the material should be avoided. Our shower areas made from glazed titanium steel are designed for long-term use. For one thing, they are incredibly robust and resistant to impacts and scratches. For another, they come with a 30-year guarantee.
Tiles give you flexibility when designing your shower. The variety of materials, colors, shapes, surfaces and installation options is enormous, as is the price range. Our shower areas are available in fixed, variable and custom sizes. This saves time-consuming cutting on site and makes installation easier. Another advantage is the guaranteed 2.5% slope, which eliminates the need for extra installation work, saving additional time and costs. And last but not least, we offer a wide range of colors, including standard and special colors – allowing you to design every aspect of your bathroom just the way you want it.
